A store for Christmas lights only

Everything in this catalog is either a Christmas light or something used to hang, connect or power one. There are no inflatables, ornaments or yard figures, just the components of a lit roofline, tree or walkway. Shipping is free on all orders, and orders ship the same day they're placed.

The parts of a Christmas light display

Lights

C9 LED bulbs are the large, 1⅛ in. bulbs used on rooflines and peaks, on an E17 intermediate base. LED mini light strands carry 50 small lights each and are used to wrap trees, trunks, shrubs and railings.

Wire

C9 bulbs screw into socket wire, a two-conductor cord with sockets molded in at a fixed spacing: 12, 15 or 24 in. Socket wire comes on 1,000 ft. spools to be cut to the length of each run, or pre-cut inside a C9 installation kit.

Mounting

Clips hold each socket upright on shingles, gutters, ridges, tile and metal without nails or screws. 8 in. stakes hold C9 or C7 bulbs along walkways and beds.

Power

Slide-on male and female plugs finish each cut run, lamp cord carries power from an outlet to the start of a run, and photocell timers switch the display on at dusk and off after a set number of hours.

Kits or parts

C9 installation kits combine the wire, bulbs, plugs and clips for a roofline at a set length. Buying the same components separately costs less per foot on long runs and leaves spare plugs, and the pricing tables below show both.

A component guide to Christmas lights

A Christmas light display is built from a short list of parts. Knowing what each one does makes it easy to order exactly what a project needs, whether that's a full roofline or one missing piece.

C9 bulbs

The C9 is the large roofline bulb: roughly 1⅛ in. wide and 3 in. tall on an E17 intermediate screw base. LED C9 bulbs come in two lens styles. Faceted lenses break the light into points for sparkle from the street; smooth lenses glow evenly, like painted glass. A 25-pack is $19.95 and a 500-bulb case is $319.

C7 bulbs and stakes

C7 bulbs are smaller, on an E12 candelabra base, for porches and railings seen up close. 8 in. light stakes hold C9 or C7 sockets upright along a walk or bed; a 25-pack is $21.50.

Socket wire

Socket wire is flat two-conductor SPT wire with sockets spaced along it. The spacing decides how many bulbs a run takes: 12 in. spacing puts one bulb every foot, 15 in. spacing about four every five feet, 24 in. one every two feet. Wire is sold on 1,000 ft. spools and cut between sockets to the length of each edge.

Plugs

Slide-on plugs clamp onto cut socket wire and pierce both conductors, with no stripping or wire nuts. The male plug goes on the end toward the outlet and the female plug on the far end, so another run can connect.

Clips

C9 O-clips ($23.75 per 100) ring each socket and hook to the gutter edge, with no drilling or nails. Plan one per socket plus a few spares.

Mini light strands

LED mini strands carry 50 lights and connect end to end. 4 in. spacing ($15 a strand) makes a tight wrap for trunks and shrubs; 6 in. spacing ($14.50 a strand) covers more branch length per strand. Choose wire color to disappear against the surface: green for evergreens, brown for bare trunks, white for white railings and columns.

Timers

A photocell timer plugs in between the outlet and the first run, turns the lights on when it gets dark and off after a set number of hours. Mount it with the sensor facing open sky, not under an eave.

Kit or components

A C9 installation kit is these components pre-matched: wire at a set length and spacing, bulbs to fill every socket, plugs and clips. The smallest, 250 ft. at 12 in. spacing, is $435. Building a 1,000 ft. run from a spool, two bulb cases, a clip case and plug packs comes to $1,216.98, or $1.22 per foot. Kits are simpler for a single house; parts give more control over long or irregular runs.

Storing lights between seasons

LED bulbs can stay in their sockets if each run is coiled loosely and not crushed. Label each run by the edge it came from, keep plugs capped or bagged to keep water and dirt out of the contacts, and store everything in dry, closed bins. Clips are inexpensive enough that many people replace them each year rather than pull them off gutters.

Questions

Why a store that only sells Christmas lights?

Every product in the catalog is a Christmas light or a part used to install one, so the categories, specs and guides are all about lighting: bulb bases, socket spacing, clip types and color temperature.

What's the difference between faceted and smooth C9 bulbs?

Faceted lenses split the light into points that sparkle from a distance. Smooth lenses glow evenly, like painted glass. Both use the same E17 base and fit the same socket wire.

What is SPT socket wire?

C9 socket wire is flat two-conductor SPT-style cord with sockets molded in at fixed spacing. It is cut between sockets and finished with slide-on plugs, which pierce the insulation to make contact.

Which clip holds C9 lights on a gutter?

C9 O-clips. Each one rings a socket and hooks to the gutter edge, one clip per socket, with no nails or screws.

Can I use C7 bulbs on C9 socket wire?

No. C7 bulbs use a smaller E12 candelabra base and won't fit C9 E17 sockets. 8 in. light stakes accept both C9 and C7 sockets for walkways.

How long do LED Christmas lights last?

LED bulbs themselves are rated for many thousands of hours, so most failures come from damaged sockets, water in connections or broken lenses. Careful storage keeps a set in use for many seasons.

Do you sell decorations other than lights?

No. The catalog is Christmas lights and the supplies used to install them: bulbs, mini strands, socket wire, clips, stakes, plugs, cord and timers.

What do I need besides the bulbs?

C9 bulbs need socket wire to screw into, clips to mount the wire, and plugs to finish each cut end. A C9 installation kit includes all four at a set length.

What's the difference between C9 and C7 bulbs?

C9 bulbs are the larger of the two, about 1⅛ in. across on an E17 intermediate base, and are the standard for rooflines and commercial displays viewed from the street. C7 bulbs are smaller, on an E12 candelabra base, and suit close-viewed spaces like porches, railings and walkways.

What's in a C9 installation kit?

Kits combine C9 socket wire at the listed length and spacing with LED C9 bulbs to fill the sockets, slide-on plugs to finish the runs and clips to mount them. The options list on each kit shows the bulb colors and clip mix available.

Which clip do I need?

C9 O-clips. Each one rings a C9 socket and hooks to the gutter edge, one clip per socket. Light stakes place C9 or C7 bulbs along walkways and beds.

What are sun warm, warm, pure and cool white?

They describe color temperature. Sun warm white (about 2600–2800K) is the most amber, closest to incandescent. Warm white (about 2800–3200K) is the traditional soft white. Pure white (about 4000–4200K) is neutral, and cool white (5900K and up) has a blue tint.

Can I return items I don't use?

Yes. Unused, uninstalled product in its original, intact packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Request the return before shipping anything back.
